Experimental gene therapy slowed progression in Huntington's disease
An early result that has not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal, or comes from a small, uncontrolled study. Treat it with caution.
Results were announced for the high dose of the experimental gene therapy coded AMT-130. In patients who received this dose, the disease progressed more slowly over three years. Progression was about 75% slower than in the comparison group. The comparison did not use a concurrent placebo group. Instead, an external control group was built from natural history data. The results are preliminary. A peer-reviewed publication is awaited.
