Brain MRI findings in more than half of children with Noonan syndrome in Ankara
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
Ankara University reviewed the brain MRIs of children with Noonan syndrome. 54% of patients had a finding. Findings ranged from structural differences to tumors. Some findings caused no symptoms at all. No new tumors were seen during follow-up in those receiving growth hormone.
What does it mean for patients and families?
A brain MRI at the time of diagnosis may be considered. This is a single-center study. The doctor decides whether an MRI is needed.
