EUNew treatments and approvals
Donidalorsen approved in the EU to prevent hereditary angioedema attacks
A decision by a medicines regulator (FDA, European Commission, etc.). The regulator has reviewed the clinical studies behind the drug. For accelerated or conditional approvals, the lasting benefit is still being confirmed.
On January 19, 2026, the European Commission approved donidalorsen, which prevents hereditary angioedema attacks. The drug is for patients aged 12 years and older. It is injected under the skin once a month. If there are no attacks for a long time, it can be reduced to once every two months. In the main study, the monthly number of attacks was about 0.4 with the drug, compared with 2.3 on placebo.
What does it mean for patients and families?
A new option has been added to the treatments that prevent attacks. Access in Türkiye depends on TİTCK (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency) and SGK (Social Security Institution) processes.
