Positive opinion in the EU for subcutaneous efgartigimod for CIDP
A decision by a medicines regulator (FDA, European Commission, etc.). The regulator has reviewed the clinical studies behind the drug. For accelerated or conditional approvals, the lasting benefit is still being confirmed.
The European Medicines Agency's scientific committee, the CHMP, issued a positive opinion on April 25, 2025. The opinion is for the use of subcutaneous efgartigimod on its own in CIDP. It covers adults with progressive or relapsing active CIDP. These patients must have previously received cortisone or IVIg. The final decision rests with the European Commission.
What does it mean for patients and families?
A new option alongside IVIg and cortisone for CIDP has moved forward in Europe. Access in Türkiye depends on TİTCK (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency) and SGK (Social Security Institution) processes. Treatment decisions are made with a doctor.
