European treatment recommendations for Behçet's disease updated
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR) updated its treatment recommendations for Behçet's disease. Physicians from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa led the work. The team included 29 people from 11 countries and two patient representatives. Colchicine became the first choice for mouth ulcers and joint complaints. Early use of strong medicines was recommended when organs are involved.
What does it mean for patients and families?
The recommendations guide physicians. Treatment is chosen separately for each patient. You can ask your physician any questions you have.
