More than a third of 104 PNH patients receiving eculizumab in Türkiye reported severe fatigue
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
A face-to-face survey was conducted with 104 PNH patients at 18 centers in Türkiye. All were receiving eculizumab treatment. Fatigue was severe in 37.5% of patients. Severe fatigue was 3.3 times more common in women. In those with another illness, this rate was 7.1 times higher. Anemia was not the only cause.
What does it mean for patients and families?
Fatigue can continue even while on treatment. It is important to tell your doctor about it. This is a survey study. It does not compare treatments with each other.
