Lerodalcibep phase 3 trial in HoFH: expected equivalence not shown on the main goal
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
In six countries, including Türkiye, 66 HoFH patients took two drugs one after the other. At week 24, LDL fell by 5% with lerodalcibep and by 10% with the comparison drug. With this difference, the main goal was not met. In the same person, the response to the two drugs was generally similar. No serious drug-related side effects were seen.
What does it mean for patients and families?
Drugs in this class work in some HoFH patients but not in others. Genetic testing does not predict the response in advance. Your doctor adjusts treatment based on LDL monitoring.
