EUNew treatments and approvals
Oral nerandomilast approved in the EU for IPF and progressive pulmonary fibrosis
A decision by a medicines regulator (FDA, European Commission, etc.). The regulator has reviewed the clinical studies behind the drug. For accelerated or conditional approvals, the lasting benefit is still being confirmed.
The European Commission approved nerandomilast on July 15, 2026. The approval covers adults with IPF and adults with progressive pulmonary fibrosis. A total of 2,355 people took part in the two main trials. In the IPF trial, the loss of lung volume over one year was about 115 ml at the high dose. In those on placebo, this loss was about 183 ml.
What does it mean for patients and families?
The drug does not stop the disease; it slows the loss of lung function. Access in Türkiye depends on TİTCK (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency) and SGK (Social Security Institution) processes. Treatment decisions are made with your doctor.
