Add-on sotatercept reduced serious events in high-risk PAH in a phase 3 trial
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
The trial included 172 PAH patients at high risk of death. Patients were already receiving full treatment. Sotatercept was added in one group and placebo in the other. Death, lung transplant or hospitalization occurred in 17.4% of the sotatercept group. In the placebo group, this rate was 54.7%. The most common side effect was nosebleeds.
What does it mean for patients and families?
This result is important evidence for severely ill patients. Access in Türkiye depends on TİTCK (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency) and SGK (Social Security Institution) processes. Treatment decisions are made with your doctor.
