Once-daily oral ralinepag reduced the risk of worsening in PAH in a phase 3 study
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
A total of 687 adults diagnosed with PAH took part in the study. Most patients were already taking two drugs. Worsening occurred in 18% of patients in the ralinepag group. In the placebo group, this rate was 36%. However, 19% of those taking ralinepag stopped the drug because of side effects. Rates of serious side effects were similar in both groups.
What does it mean for patients and families?
A new oral option for PAH may become available. The drug is not yet approved. Access in Türkiye depends on TİTCK (Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency) and SGK (Social Security Institution) processes.
