Growth hormone response in 69 children with Silver-Russell syndrome: a multicenter study in Türkiye
A study published in a journal and reviewed by independent scientists. Even so, a single study is not conclusive; it needs to be replicated.
Pediatric endocrinology centers in Türkiye studied 69 children with Silver-Russell syndrome. In children who had gene testing, the most common cause was a change in the 11p15 region. Digestive and nervous system problems were common. Early puberty was also more common than in the general population. The result of growth hormone treatment was most influenced by the length of treatment.
What does it mean for patients and families?
This study shows the importance of regular growth monitoring. Few children had reached their final height, so the results are limited. Treatment decisions are made with a pediatric endocrinologist.
